ABOUT STEVE FREEDMAN
Steve, a ball player and avid athlete since age 4, actually didn’t pick up a tennis racket until the age of 27. His change of heart came during a frustrating round of golf at hole 9. Exchanging the golf club for a racket and giving tennis a try. He got hooked. So much in fact to pursue a change of career from an agent in the entertainment industry to teaching this sport he is so passionate about.
Knowing how to play tennis doesn’t necessarily make you a great teacher.
Using his experience from playing baseball, basketball, golf & tennis he created his very own coaching style.
Since 2000 he’s been successfully teaching players of all ages and levels. Participating in USTA Leagues, coaching his own USTA Teams, preparing Junior Players for competition, getting first timers started, fine tuning intermediate to advanced players, teaching at Balboa Magnet School and coaching Harvard Westlake JV Tennis boys & girls since 2003. His Harvard Westlake JV Tennis Team has been undefeated every since he started with them.
His unique approach, work ethic and ability to analyze players for their strength and turning their weaknesses into assets, has earned him the nickname “ The Surgeon”.
